Master AM-72-164 A-4 Skyhawk – DŁUGI, PROSTY wysięgnik sondy tankowania (używany w wersjach A-4E/F & TA-4F/J) 1/72

The presented product, Master AM-72-164, is a highly precise metal refueling probe boom designed for models of the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk attack aircraft in the popular 1/72 scale. The set was specially developed to authentically recreate the configurations of A-4E, A-4F, and the two-seat TA-4F and TA-4J models. These variants were mainly used by the US Navy, United States Marine Corps (USMC), as well as by the air forces of Israel, Argentina, Singapore, and several other allied countries.

Historical description: This boom is a faithful miniature of the characteristic long air-to-air refueling probe, which was standard from the mid-1960s on the A-4E/F and training TA-4F/J variants. It enabled the use of the “basket and probe” system, which greatly enhanced the combat range of aircraft during carrier operations and long-range patrols. Skyhawks with this equipment were used intensively during, among others, the Vietnam War (Cold War era), as well as for daily training of elite US Navy pilots (TOPGUN).

Technical data and details:

  • Category: Precision replacement for plastic model kits
  • Scale: 1/72
  • Material: Turned brass – one-piece, extremely durable, accurately replicates real proportions and details
  • Dedicated for: Models of A-4E, A-4F, TA-4F, TA-4J (e.g. Hasegawa, Airfix, Italeri, Hobby Boss)
  • Original’s period of use: 1966–present (Cold War, modern times)
  • Detailed replication of equipment for combat and training Skyhawks
  • Easy assembly – does not require additional processing or fitting

Advantages and recommendations: Master AM-72-164 is the ideal choice for modelers seeking the highest quality detail and realism for their models. Its metal construction ensures durability and eliminates the risk of easy damage to a delicate plastic part. This is an excellent accent for collectors recreating scenes from aircraft carriers USS Forrestal or USS Midway, or of Skyhawk training flights in US Navy markings. Especially recommended for intermediate and advanced modelers seeking top-tier components to raise the realism of their miniatures to the next level.

Assembly difficulty: 1/5 – very easy, perfect even for basic modeling skills.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
