Historical Description

The P-47 Thunderbolt, produced by Republic Aviation, is considered one of the heaviest and most durable single-seat piston-engine fighters of World War II. The P-47C-2 version is an early variant equipped, among other things, with modified landing gear, reinforced fuselage components, and the characteristic Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine. Thunderbolts operated both over Europe, where they escorted bombers on raids against German targets, and in the Pacific – also distinguishing themselves as ground-attack aircraft thanks to their rugged construction and considerable weapons payload.

Features of the Dora Wings 48055 Model

  • Sharp external details: realistic panel structure, panel lines, reproduced rivets, and structural elements.
  • Highly detailed cockpit: rich instrument panel, separately modeled seat, and small cabin elements.
  • Accurate engine model – with finely rendered armament and external stores.
  • Photo-etched (PE) extras: including cockpit details, pilot harnesses, and minor exterior ornaments.
  • Comprehensive decal set – various marking versions from 1942-1943, including historical USAAC and RAF paint schemes.

Scale
1/48

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
