Bücker Bü 131 Jungmann entered production in 1934 after the successful maiden flight of its prototype on May 27, 1934. Piloted by Joachim von Köppen, the aircraft quickly gained popularity as a modern trainer in Germany and beyond. From 1936, the improved Bü 131 B series was equipped with a more powerful Hirth HM 504 A-2 engine, providing higher power and greater reliability, which led to its widespread use by the Luftwaffe during World War II. The model was also produced under license in other countries—in Czechoslovakia it was known as the Tatra-131 and became the foundation for local aviation training.

The Bücker 131 is an aircraft that played a key role in both civilian and military pilot training from the interwar period well into the post-war years. With its lightweight construction, classic biplane configuration, and excellent flying characteristics, it was a recognized choice for flight schools.

RS Models kits are renowned for their above-average detail quality. Set 94020 captures the full silhouette of the aircraft, faithfully reproducing the structure of the wings, fuselage, and cockpit. The clear instructions, precisely made decals, and quality craftsmanship make it an excellent choice both as a first historic airplane model and for collectors and enthusiasts of World War II and interwar aviation.

We recommend this model to all plastic model building enthusiasts and aviation fans seeking a proven kit of moderate difficulty, offering the opportunity to explore the history of aviation training from nearly 90 years ago.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
