Eduard 8232 MiG-21BIS 1/48 – Plastic Model Kit

Eduard 8232 MiG-21BIS 1/48 is a high-quality plastic model kit designed for discerning modelers who wish to accurately recreate the look and details of one of the most iconic fighter jets of the Cold War era. Offered in Eduard's ProfiPACK edition, this kit includes not only precisely molded plastic parts, but also pre-colored photo-etched (PE) components, painting masks, and an impressive decal sheet with six marking options from various countries.

The MiG-21bis was a modernized version of the legendary Soviet MiG-21 jet fighter, which participated in numerous conflicts from the 1970s through the 1990s. Widely exported to Eastern Bloc countries and Soviet allied nations, this aircraft was considered one of the mainstays of Soviet fighter aviation. The "bis" version introduced features such as a better engine, improved avionics, and enhanced maneuverability. The MiG-21bis was used by the USSR, Poland, India, Bulgaria, Finland, the GDR, and many other countries, taking part in Cold War patrols and often engaging in real combat, including operations in the Middle East and Asia.

  • Model scale: 1/48
  • Countries of use: USSR, Poland, India, Finland, Bulgaria, GDR, and others
  • Period of use: Cold War – 1972–1990
  • Material: high-quality plastic + photo-etched (PE, factory painted) parts
  • Add-ons: painting masks, decal sheet (6 variants)
  • Product category: plastic model kit
  • Difficulty level: 4/5 (for intermediate and advanced modelers)

Eduard 8232 MiG-21BIS 1/48 stands out for its highly detailed parts, accurate recessed panel lines, realistic landing gear bays, and a richly equipped cockpit. The pre-painted photo-etched parts allow for easy achievement of spectacular realism, especially in the cockpit and external details. The included masks speed up and simplify the painting of the canopy and landing gear wheels.

We recommend this model to all modelers interested in Cold War aircraft or collectors of Soviet machines. It's an excellent choice, especially for modelers with some experience working with photo-etched parts and precision painting. Thanks to the rich contents of the ProfiPACK set, you'll achieve an exceptionally realistic final effect.

Scale
1/48

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
