Takom 5018 Sänger-Bredt Silbervogel Suborbital Bomber & Atomic Payload Suite 1/35 is a unique plastic model kit that allows modeling enthusiasts and aviation history buffs to travel back to the era of ambitious, avant-garde German technology projects from World War II. This kit faithfully replicates the German Silbervogel suborbital rocket bomber, developed by Eugen Sänger and Irene Bredt between 1938–1942 for the Amerika Bomber project.
The Silbervogel (“silver bird”) was a futuristic suborbital bomber based on a revolutionary “skip-glide” atmospheric flight concept. Thanks to its liquid-fuel rocket propulsion, the craft was designed to ascend to an altitude of about 145 km, then repeatedly dive and climb—potentially crossing the Atlantic and allowing bombing missions over North America directly from Europe. Although the project never left the drawing board and was never put into production, the Silbervogel went on to inspire later aerospace designs and ballistic research. Its innovative character was widely analyzed by the military on both sides of the Atlantic, especially during the Cold War.
- Scale: 1/35 – a large and highly detailed scale that allows for a faithful reproduction of the aircraft and its unique technical solutions.
- Country of use: Germany (Third Reich); conceptual project, never put into combat use.
- Historical period: World War II, the era of secret weapon projects and the 1938–1945 technology race.
- Material: High-quality plastic; the kit also includes an atomic payload suite (atomic bomb load), separate sections, clear cockpit parts, richly detailed interior, and propulsion system.
- Category: Plastic model kit.
The kit does not include glue or paints—giving you full freedom to finish the model to your own vision as a modeler. We recommend it for advanced hobbyists and anyone interested in “secret weapons” and Third Reich aviation technology. The model requires care and precision during assembly—suggested difficulty level: 4/5.
Takom 5018 Sänger-Bredt Silbervogel Suborbital Bomber & Atomic Payload Suite 1/35 is an excellent addition to the collections of history enthusiasts and fans of unusual aircraft with pivotal significance to the development of aerospace technologies. It guarantees many hours of satisfying manual work and allows you to delve into the remarkable history of twentieth-century avant-garde engineering.
