Historical description

The aircraft carrier Clemenceau (R98) was one of two Clemenceau-class vessels serving in the French Navy (Marine Nationale). She entered service in 1961 and was intensively used during the Cold War until her retirement in 1997. Clementeau took part in many operations, including in the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean, supporting both NATO exercises and French military interventions.
