The F-111D aircraft is a version of the multi-role strike aircraft General Dynamics F-111, known as the "Aardvark," which was one of the most technologically advanced planes of its time. The D version was introduced into USAF service in the years 1970–1991 and was distinguished by modern avionics and the ability to carry out long-range precision missions. The F-111D was widely used during the Cold War, serving as a tactical bomber and reconnaissance aircraft.
