Historical Description

The cruisers “Aurora,” “Diana,” and “Pallada” belonged to the first rank of Russian battleships designed at the end of the 19th century and introduced into the fleet at the beginning of the 20th century. These vessels were used by the Russian Navy and participated, among others, in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904–1905 in the Far East, while “Aurora” and “Diana” continued service during World War I in the Baltic from 1914 to 1918. The cruiser “Aurora” is especially remembered as a symbol of the October Revolution of 1917, firing the famous shot that signaled the start of the storming of the Winter Palace.
