Eduard 49238 P-39Q/N 1/48 – photo-etched parts set for Airacobra

The Eduard 49238 P-39Q/N in 1/48 scale is a high-quality detail set designed for plastic models of the Bell P-39Q/N Airacobra fighter. The product was developed by the renowned Czech manufacturer Eduard, known worldwide for model accessories that enhance the realism of finished miniatures. The set is intended for models in the popular 1/48 scale, which is a compromise between detail and work ergonomics.

  • Scale: 1/48
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Application: For P-39Q and P-39N Airacobra models (e.g. Eduard, Revell, Academy)
  • Material: thin brass sheet, photo-etching technique
  • Category: photo-etched accessory set for plastic models

Bell P-39 Airacobra was one of the main USA fighter aircraft during World War II. The airplane gained recognition mainly in the Soviet fighter air force on the Eastern Front, but also remained in service with the air forces of the USA, Italy, Great Britain, and France. The P-39Q and P-39N variants were produced in 1942–1944 and were distinguished by, among others, increased armament, improved Allison engine, and new underwing mounts. The Airacobra participated in battles over New Guinea, Sicily, and especially in large-scale air battles over the Russian steppes.

Precisely made photo-etched parts significantly enhance the level of detail in the cockpit, instrument panel, seat belts, buttons, levers, and interior structure—details impossible to achieve with traditional injection-molded plastic parts. The product includes printed colored elements (such as instrument dials), which immediately add realism upon assembly.

This set is recommended for intermediate and advanced modelers who want to improve the historical accuracy and level of detail of their model. Assembly requires precision and experience; we rate the difficulty level at 4/5. Eduard 49238 is the perfect choice for collectors and World War II aviation enthusiasts.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
