The M3 Lee is a medium tank introduced into service by the United States at the beginning of World War II. It was notable for its unique layout – the main 75 mm gun was mounted in the hull, while a 37 mm gun was installed in a rotating turret. The Lee variant was used primarily by American and British forces during battles in North Africa, where it played an important role in the Battle of El Alamein (1942).
