The outbreak of World War II brought with it a series of important tasks – from escorting transport convoys in 1939, to hunting German vessels, and taking part in the Norwegian campaign (1940), where it escorted troop transports to Norway. In 1941, HMS York was heavily damaged during a night attack by Italian explosive boats in Suda Bay (Crete), which put the ship out of further operational use. Due to extensive damage, it was grounded on a shallow, where it served for a while as an improvised anti-aircraft battery until it was destroyed by Luftwaffe air raids. After the war, the ship was scrapped in Greece.

Trumpeter 05351 HMS York 1/350 offers a high level of detail: from realistic superstructures, through deck structure, to armament and onboard equipment. The model is an excellent base for additional detailing – photo-etched parts can easily be added, and careful assembly will yield an impressive replica of the historic Royal Navy cruiser.

We recommend this kit to intermediate and advanced modelers who wish to develop their skills by building impressive warship models.
