Master AM-48-156 American WWII Pitot Tube – "Shark Fin" Type (1pcs) – 1/48 Scale

Master AM-48-156 is a precisely crafted metal Pitot tube in the distinctive "shark fin" type, used by American aircraft during World War II. This product is intended for modelers building models in the popular 1/48 scale, who expect the highest authenticity and faithful reproduction of details in their models. It is a professional upgrade part created by the renowned Polish company Master, known for its highest quality standards and attention to historical detail.

"Shark fin" type Pitot tubes were a characteristic feature of many frontline and training aircraft of the USAAF, US Navy, and other users. They were fitted to aircraft such as: Curtiss P-36, Bell P-39 Airacobra, Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, North American A-36 Apache, Brewster B-239 Buffalo, North American T-6 Texan, as well as the North American B-25 Mitchell bomber. Their period of use covers the years of World War II, that is, 1939–1945. They were often used in postwar versions as well, especially on T-6 trainers, which served into the 1950s and 1960s.

The offered tube is made of turned brass, which provides incomparably greater durability and precision compared to plastic parts. This makes the product resistant to damage, while maintaining extremely fine detail and sharp edges. Assembly is simple – the finished tube replaces the inaccurate plastic kit parts, significantly enhancing the realism of the finished model.

  • The set includes 1 metal Pitot tube in 1/48 scale.
  • The product is dedicated for plastic and resin models, both new and older editions of American and Allied historical aircraft.
  • Category: Metal modeling details – accessory add-ons for scale model kits.
  • Material: turned brass, with no plastic admixtures; the product does not require surface finishing apart from optional painting.
  • Assembly difficulty: 2/5 – recommended for intermediate and advanced modelers.

We highly recommend the Master AM-48-156 to any modeler wanting to improve the realism of their American WWII aircraft models. This upgrade will be especially appreciated by enthusiasts of era aircraft kits as well as those participating in model contests, as it perfectly highlights details and enhances the aesthetic qualities of the replica. It is a small investment with a very significant visual impact!

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
