Unimodels 285 Self-propelled gun SG-122 1/72 – Plastic model of self-propelled gun SG-122

Unimodels 285 Self-propelled gun SG-122 1/72 is a high-quality plastic model kit that replicates the Soviet SG-122 self-propelled gun from World War II. The presented model in 1/72 scale faithfully reproduces the details of the original vehicle, which was one of the first Soviet self-propelled guns, based on captured German Panzer III and StuG III chassis.

The original SG-122 (Samokhodnaya Ustanovka 122) was used by the Red Army mainly in the years 1942–1944 during the fiercest battles on the Eastern Front. These units, armed with 122 mm M-30 howitzers, proved especially effective during assaults on fortified German positions. Their production was limited due to the restricted number of available chassis, and the vehicle itself is considered a transitional design before the introduction of the mass-produced SU-122 and SU-152.

  • Scale: 1/72
  • Country of use: USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics)
  • Period of use: World War II (1942–1944)
  • Material: High-quality plastic
  • Included: 162 plastic parts, photo-etched elements for enhanced realism, detailed assembly instructions in English, and a painting diagram
  • Category: Plastic model kit
  • Model length after assembly: 81 mm

The Unimodels 285 SG-122 1/72 kit stands out thanks to the inclusion of photo-etched elements, which allow for exceptional accuracy in small details such as handles, guards, or exterior equipment details. The model does not include glue or paints—these must be purchased separately, allowing you to choose color schemes consistent with historical Red Army patterns.

We recommend this product for intermediate and advanced historical and military modelers, especially enthusiasts of Soviet military technology from the Eastern Front. The SG-122 model in 1/72 scale will make an excellent addition to any collection of armored vehicles from World War II, as well as an ideal base for creating realistic dioramas. Assembly difficulty: 3/5.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
