Aoshima 00817 Fuyuzuki 1/700 – plastic model kit of a warship

Aoshima 00817 Fuyuzuki 1/700 is a carefully designed plastic model kit representing an Akizuki-class destroyer from World War II. The model, produced by the renowned Japanese company Aoshima in a precise 1/700 scale, perfectly captures the details of the original Fuyuzuki vessel, one of the most advanced Japanese destroyers of its time.

The Fuyuzuki ship, belonging to the Akizuki class, became famous as a modern escort vessel of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Launched in 1944, it took part in the last Pacific campaigns, escorting, among others, the battleship Yamato during Operation Ten-Go. Thanks to its advanced design, ships of this class were distinguished by powerful anti-aircraft armament and modern electronics for the period. Fuyuzuki served until the end of World War II, after which she was handed over to the Allies.

  • Scale: 1/700
  • Historical period: World War II (mainly 1944-1945)
  • Country of service: Japan, Imperial Navy
  • Material: high-quality plastic; the kit does not include extras such as metal barrels or photo-etched parts, but provides excellent detail in the basic components
  • Category: plastic model kit
  • Dimensions when assembled: approx. 18.5 cm in length
  • Box contents: all sprues for assembling the ship model, clear pictorial instructions

The presented Fuyuzuki 1/700 model from Aoshima is an excellent choice for both experienced naval modelers and intermediate enthusiasts of World War II history. Thanks to the finely replicated details of the deck, masts and anti-aircraft armament, the model is also perfect for collectors of the Water Line series.

We rate the assembly difficulty at 3/5. The model requires precision when assembling small parts, but the clear instructions and excellent fit of the pieces make it friendly even for those just starting with 1/700 scale ships. As glue and paints are not included, we recommend purchasing the appropriate modeling accessories separately.

We recommend Aoshima 00817 Fuyuzuki 1/700 to maritime enthusiasts, World War II model collectors, and all modelers looking to add a faithful miniature of a Japanese naval legend to their collection.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
