Historical Description of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XIV Bubbletop
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XIV was an advanced version of the legendary British fighter, equipped with the powerful Rolls-Royce Griffon engine. Thanks to this, it played an effective role in combating V-1 flying bombs and escorting bombers during raids over occupied Europe. Characteristic for the Bubbletop version was a transparent, teardrop-shaped canopy, providing the pilot with excellent visibility. The Spitfire Mk.XIV served in the Royal Air Force and RAF 2nd Tactical Air Force until the end of the war and briefly thereafter, including in Malaya and Germany.
