Historical Description of the IAI Kfir C2/C7 Aircraft

The IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries) Kfir is an Israeli multirole jet fighter developed on the basis of the French Dassault Mirage 5. The C2 and C7 variants are among the most popular and advanced versions. The aircraft entered service with the Israeli Air Force in the late 1970s and was actively used during armed conflicts in the Middle East between 1977–1980 and during the Cold War era. The Kfir was mainly used for air superiority, interception, ground support, and reconnaissance missions. The C7 version featured a more powerful engine, additional hardpoints, and enhanced avionics, which led to its use by other countries as well, including Colombia, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, and the USA (as an aggressor aircraft for the Navy and Marines training program).
