Historical Use of Light Stone Colour

The Light Stone shade, numbered BS381C:361, was a colour widely used by the British Army, especially during World War II. Its greatest popularity was in the North African theatre of operations, where it was the primary base colour for British armoured vehicles, military utility cars, and most mechanical equipment. Light Stone provided excellent camouflage for vehicles in the desert terrain of the Tunisian and Libyan Sahara as well as regions of Egypt. It was used on legendary vehicles such as the Matilda II, Crusader, Grant, and on British and Australian transports during the years 1940–1943. This shade was also often paired with Olive Green or Desert Pink.
