This carefully crafted set faithfully reproduces the proportions and details of the original, allowing you to build a miniature of one of the most recognizable U.S. Navy fighter aircraft.

Brief history of the F4U-4 Corsair

The Vought F4U-4 Corsair is a legendary fighter and fighter-bomber aircraft, distinguished by its characteristic inverted "W"-shaped wing. The plane was developed at the request of the US Navy and Marine Corps and entered wide service at the end of World War II, serving mainly in the Pacific Theater from 1944. Its enhanced version, the F4U-4, debuted in 1945, featuring a more powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800-18W Double Wasp engine, as well as improved performance and armament.

After the end of World War II, the F4U-4 Corsair also played an important role during the Korean War (1950–1953), especially in ground attack missions. The aircraft also served in other countries, including the French, Argentine, and Salvadoran naval air forces, although its main user remained the United States.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
