Airfix 12008 Handley Page Victor B.2 1/72 – plastic model kit

Airfix 12008 Handley Page Victor B.2 is an outstanding 1/72 scale plastic model kit, recreating one of the most distinctive British strategic bombers of the Cold War era. The Handley Page Victor B.2, an integral part of the British nuclear V-force triad, was used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) from the early 1960s until the mid-1980s. This model is designed for self-assembly – the kit does not include glue or paints, giving the modeller complete freedom in choosing techniques and finishing styles.

The unique history of the Victor B.2 aircraft

The Handley Page Victor B.2 is the second, modernized version of the bomber, designed to carry nuclear weapons and perform aerial refuelling. These aircraft served mainly during the Cold War, and their role was crucial to nuclear deterrence strategy. During the Falklands conflict in 1982, the Victor B.2 was used as a tanker supporting long-range operations – the famous Black Buck operation demonstrated the remarkable combat flexibility this aircraft could offer.

Features of the Airfix 12008 model

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
