This model is a faithful replica of the Kawasaki T-4 — a twin-seat jet trainer introduced into service with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) since 1988. It gained particular fame as the aircraft used by the Blue Impulse aerobatic team, Japan's counterpart to the Red Arrows or Patrouille de France. The T-4 has participated in numerous national and international airshows from the late 1980s to the present day.

The Hasegawa PT16 features richly detailed fuselage, wings, and cockpit, as well as decals enabling the recreation of the original Blue Impulse markings, including the characteristic blue-white color scheme and emblems. All components fit together perfectly, minimizing the need for filling — a feature especially appreciated by modelers expecting high quality from a renowned manufacturer.
