PzKpfw. II Ausf. L “Luchs” (German for “Lynx”) was a German light reconnaissance tank developed at the end of World War II for the armored divisions of the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS. It was produced between 1943 and 1944 and used for reconnaissance and fast attacks on both the Eastern and Western fronts, thanks to excellent maneuverability and a high maximum speed (up to 60 km/h). Although lightly armored and equipped with a 2 cm KwK 38 L/55 cannon and MG34 machine gun, this tank was valued by its crews for its “quiet” and reliable engine as well as its modern suspension system.
