Historical background:
The Martin PBM-5A Mariner was an American patrol bomber flying boat extensively used during World War II by the US Navy. It took part in Pacific and Atlantic operations, serving in anti-submarine warfare, sea rescue, and long-range reconnaissance missions. PBM-5A aircraft were also engaged in the early post-war years, supporting US Navy activities up to the mid-1950s.

The Eduard 72736 set allows you to replicate the internal mechanisms, handles, panels, and other small details of the bomb bay that are difficult to achieve with injection molding. Each part is manufactured with extraordinary precision using photo-etch technology—thin metal sheets perfectly reproduce shapes, rivet lines, and panel textures found on the original. The result is a significant increase in the model’s authenticity—especially impressive when displaying the bomb bay open.

Recommended for: Advanced modelers and enthusiasts of WWII military aircraft who want to achieve the highest possible fidelity. The set requires basic skills in working with photo-etched details, bending, and assembling very small parts.
Assembly difficulty: 3/5

The Eduard 72736 PBM-5A bomb bay set is a professional choice for demanding modelers who value realism, detail, and the highest quality accessories for 1/72 scale models. An excellent addition for historic aviation collectors!
