Hasegawa 02444 F-14D Tomcat 'VF-101 Grim Reapers 2002' 1/72 – Plastic Model Aircraft Kit

Hasegawa 02444 F-14D Tomcat 'VF-101 Grim Reapers 2002' is a plastic model kit in the popular 1/72 scale, aimed at aviation modeling enthusiasts seeking faithful replicas of outstanding military machines. This kit reproduces the legendary American F-14D Tomcat fighter aircraft in the livery of the elite US Navy squadron – VF-101 Grim Reapers, as used in 2002.

This modeling set allows you to build a detailed model of a fighter jet, which is one of the most important symbols of American air supremacy from the second half of the 20th century. The F-14D Tomcat was widely used by the United States Navy from the 1970s until the early 21st century, serving mainly during the Cold War era and in peacekeeping operations, such as patrol flights and power projection around the world. The D series was the most advanced Tomcat version, introduced in the early 1990s.

The presented model is based on Hasegawa’s original design – renowned for its precision molds and excellent proportions. Inside the box, you will find carefully cast, high-quality plastic, ensuring easy assembly and structural durability. Noteworthy are the detailed renditions of the two-seat cockpit, armament, variable-geometry wing mechanisms, and the distinctive VF-101 Grim Reapers markings. The kit does not include extras such as photo-etched parts, metal barrels, or resin components, but the amount of detail allows the creation of a solid replica straight from the box.

• Model scale: 1/72 – ideal level of detail with manageable size.

I recommend this set for both intermediate and experienced aviation modelers due to the accuracy of detail and the high satisfaction from the completed model. I rate the difficulty level at 3/5 – the kit requires care, but the instructions guide you step by step through all stages of assembly.
