The USS Missouri battleship—the last ship of the Iowa class—entered service in 1944. It took part in the most significant operations at the end of World War II in the Pacific, the bombardment of the Japanese islands, and the historic war-ending ceremony. It also served in the Korean War, was modernized in the 1980s (receiving, among others, Tomahawk and Harpoon missiles), and was finally decommissioned in 1992. Today, it serves as a museum-memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

The Trumpeter model stands out for its high level of detailed reproduction—including simulated wooden deck structures, fine superstructure details, and photo-etched metal parts. Multi-directional slide molds have provided a realistic look for the hull, and the set also includes an elegant display stand.
