Mitsubishi A6M Zero was the main carrier-based fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II (1939-1945). It was famous for its unrivaled maneuverability and very long range, which made it extremely effective in the early years of the conflict, especially during the Battle of Midway and operations over the Solomon Islands, from bases in the legendary Rabaul. The A6M2b Type 21 was the original version used in the attack on Pearl Harbor (December 7, 1941) and in offensive actions during the early phase of the war. The improved A6M3 Type 22 was introduced in 1942, offering better speed and performance at medium altitudes, aimed at increasing Japanese chances in increasingly difficult air battles with the Allies.

The models in this double set are characterized by faithful detail reproduction, including a precisely molded cockpit, wing structure, and landing gear components. Decals allow for authentic paint schemes of aircraft flown by Japanese aces stationed at Rabaul.

We recommend this set to advanced and intermediate modelers, due to the need for proper fitting of many small parts and precise painting. The set is an excellent choice for collectors interested in World War II aviation and those building Pacific front dioramas.

Level of assembly difficulty: 3/5 – the models offer a high level of detail but require some modeling experience.
