Historical overview: The AH-64D Apache Longbow is a modernized version of the famous AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, which entered service with the US Army at the end of the 1980s. The "D" (Longbow) variant appeared in the mid-1990s and was distinguished by the use of the AN/APG-78 Longbow pulse radar, which enables tracking and engaging targets both day and night, regardless of weather conditions. This advanced system provided a range of technical improvements in combat capabilities and crew safety—allowing detection of targets behind terrain obstacles as well as precise use of Hellfire missiles and other weapon types. The helicopter was widely used in 21st-century conflicts, including in Iraq, Afghanistan, and during NATO operations.

We recommend the Takom 2606 both to beginner aviation modelers and experienced builders looking for challenges and realistic details. The model works perfectly as part of a larger military diorama or as a standalone collector's display. Due to the number of parts and the requirement for precise painting, we suggest a difficulty level of: 4/5. This is an advanced kit that will reward the time invested in assembly and painting with a top-class combat helicopter model.
