Academy 12583 German Horten Ho 229 "Wunderwaffe" 1/72

Academy 12583 German Horten Ho 229 "Wunderwaffe" 1/72 is a meticulously replicated plastic model kit, showcasing one of the most innovative aviation designs of the 20th century. The model represents the famous German jet-powered fighter aircraft Horten Ho 229, also known as Gotha Go 229. This pioneering aircraft was developed by brothers Reimar and Wolfgang Horten during World War II and was among the secret "Wunderwaffe" (wonder weapons) of the Third Reich.

• Scale: 1/72 – perfect for collectors and diorama enthusiasts, allowing for detailed replication of the aircraft’s features.
• User country: Germany (Third Reich).
• Service period: World War II (years 1944–1945).
• Category: Plastic model kit.
• Material: High-quality plastic (polystyrene), ensuring precise reproduction of panel lines and the structure of the fuselage and wings.
• Included: Detailed sprues with parts, clear canopy, decals with historical markings, assembly instructions. Glue and paints are not included in the set.
• Design: The model allows you to build an aircraft with a unique "flying wing" aerodynamic shape, with prominent air intakes and pilot’s cockpit.

The Horten Ho 229 is an example of bold engineering thinking that significantly influenced later jet and stealth aircraft designs. Although the Ho 229 was never used in combat, its prototypes were tested at the end of the war and fell into Allied hands. The aircraft became an inspiration for the design of modern low-observable (stealth) machines.

This model is recommended for aviation history enthusiasts, intermediate modelers, and collectors of unusual World War II aircraft. It offers a building challenge due to its unconventional shape and wing geometry – assembly difficulty rating: level 3 on a 1–5 scale. An excellent choice both for standalone display and as part of an elaborate diorama from the war’s final years. The model provides high collectible value and satisfaction from building a unique machine that has become a legend in the history of experimental aviation.
