Historical Background and Application

The radio altimeters replicated by the Quickboost QB72597 set were a key element of the later modifications of the MiG-21 aircraft. These machines were produced in the Soviet Union and under license in many countries, serving mainly during the Cold War and in modern times—from the 1960s up to the early 21st century. The MiG-21, upgraded with radio altitude sensors, participated in many armed conflicts, including wars in the Middle East and during the Vietnam War, where precise altitude measurement was especially important for pilots flying at low altitudes.
