Italeri 1466 Ju 87 G-2 Kanonenvogel 1/72

Italeri 1466 Ju 87 G-2 Kanonenvogel 1/72 – Plastic model of a dive bomber

We offer the Italeri 1466 Ju 87 G-2 Kanonenvogel plastic model kit in the popular 1/72 scale. This is a precisely reproduced miniature of the legendary German dive bomber from World War II, which gained fame as a symbol of the German armed forces during Blitzkrieg military operations.

The Junkers Ju 87G-2 "Kanonenvogel" was designed as the Luftwaffe's response to the ever-increasing number of Soviet armored vehicles on the Eastern Front. The special G version was developed as a result of the experience of the famous flying ace Hans Ulrich Rudel, who suggested mounting powerful 37 mm Flak 18 cannons under the wings. Thanks to this, the aircraft was transformed into an effective anti-tank machine, extremely dangerous for Soviet armored units, especially between 1943 and 1945 on the Eastern theater of war.

The G-2 version used the enlarged wings found in the earlier D-5 model, which improved its performance and allowed for a larger combat load. The Germans primarily used this model on the Eastern Front, although several units were also deployed to other World War II theaters.
