Historical Description

The aircraft carrier Katsuragi belonged to the Unryū-class series of ships used by the Imperial Japanese Navy towards the end of World War II. Commissioned in 1944, its primary role was to provide air support during naval operations in the Pacific. Due to its late entry into service and the difficult circumstances near the war's end, Katsuragi did not participate in major offensive actions, but it was utilized for evacuation missions and transporting aircraft in the final stages of the conflict. After the war, the vessel was used for repatriating Japanese soldiers.
