Armory Models AW48407 EE Lightning Wheels with Weighted Tires, Early 1/48 – Resin Enhancement Set

The Armory Models AW48407 EE Lightning wheels w/ weighted tires, early 1/48 set is a high-quality enhancement intended for the 1/48 scale model of the British English Electric Lightning fighter aircraft. This set is dedicated to model aircraft enthusiasts who are looking for precise and realistic details for their model. The English Electric Lightning is an iconic supersonic interceptor fighter used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) during the Cold War, from the late 1950s to the 1980s. This aircraft was known for its incredible rate of climb and characteristic silhouette with two engines mounted one above the other.

The presented set introduces improved resin main and nose wheels with realistically flattened (weighted) tires—a feature reflecting the actual weight of the aircraft standing on the runway. The set was made from top-quality resin, which made it possible to recreate the intricate tread details and wear effects typical for early versions of the Lightning, used mainly from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. The set includes both main wheels and a nose wheel, helping to enrich the model with details not offered by base kit sets.

This product falls under the category of resin enhancement sets produced with resin casting methods. Thanks to the use of resin, the details are precise and sharp, far surpassing plastic kit parts. It does not include metal parts, but the attention to detail makes it an extremely attractive choice for modelers seeking maximum realism.
