Historical information about the KV-2 vehicle

The KV-2 tank is one of the most distinctive Soviet heavy tanks, used mainly during the early period of World War II from 1940 to 1942. The design was developed in response to the need for fire support for units attacking enemy fortifications, including during fighting on the Eastern Front. Its characteristic, massive turret with a 152 mm howitzer allowed for effective high-explosive fire. KV-2 tanks fought during Operation Barbarossa and in the initial defensive battles of the USSR against the German army.
