Historical Overview and Application

The RBK-500 SHOAB-0.5 is a Soviet cluster bomb designed to engage point targets and lightly armored enemy forces. This bomb was mainly used by Soviet Air Forces, and later by Russia, from the late 1970s until the present day. It was used in armed conflicts such as the war in Afghanistan, Chechen wars, and during the Russian Air Force intervention in Syria. Characteristic for Soviet technology, it allowed destruction of a wide area thanks to the submunitions (SHOAB-0.5 bombs).
