The Carrera RS was designed specifically to meet homologation requirements for racing in the early 1970s, including FIA Group 4 rally events. Its distinctive lightweight construction, unique “ducktail” spoiler, and 2.7L engine set this model apart, making it popular among race drivers and collectors. It was mainly used in Germany and other Western European countries between 1973–1974, just before changes in homologation regulations.
